Want to create and print your own magazine?

Have you been thinking about creating a magazine? Well, you’re in luck, print those at 24bookprint too! You can use our platform to create a magazine just as you would a book. Since we can print on demand starting from a single copy, it’s a perfect low-risk solution if you’re looking to print in lower quantities; whether you’re just starting out or happen to have a niche target audience.

Magazine layouts

While we offer a wide range of Word templates for book manuscripts, these will unfortunately not be very useful if you’re planning on creating a magazine. A good layout is everything when it comes to magazines, and Word simply isn’t sophisticated enough to accommodate this. You’ll need to use a program like InDesign or QuarkXPress to get a professional-looking result. Whether you do this yourself or hire someone to do it for you is up to you. Once finished, you can upload your magazine to our platform and create a cover for it, if you haven’t done so already.

If you’ve got everything you need and are just looking to print a magazine that’s already finished, just log in and upload your files!

Selling your magazine

If your plan is to print a magazine with the goal of distributing it, you might want to consider putting it up for sale on our website as well. Unless the content is hyper-local, you may well find that there are interested readers all over the place. You get to set your own sales price, and there are no costs involved with this at all. This means you would earn money for every copy you sell without having to invest any first. In other words, you’ve really got nothing to lose!

Cover ideas for your magazine

Since it’s such a visually stimulating reading experience, a magazine needs to have a captivating photo or illustration on the cover. You should assume that only once a prospective reader’s attention has been caught with the image will they start paying attention to the information provided on the cover. The title needs to be clearly visible and stylistically consistent across issues.

You can create covers directly on our platform using the Cover Designer. This is easy, intuitive and ensures your cover will automatically adapt to the size of your magazine, meaning one less thing for you to worry about. Alternatively, you can create a cover on your own, using a software of your choice, and then upload it to our platform as a JPG, PNG, or PDF.

If you choose the latter route, use our cover calculator to make sure the dimensions of your cover match those of your chosen format.

Authoritative

If your goal is to impart knowledge, you’ll need to project authority on the subject your magazine is about. Tease the contents of your magazine with intriguing cover lines. Use these cover lines to convince the prospective reader that they won’t find this top-tier content anywhere else. This doesn’t mean you can’t connect with your audience using humour or lighter articles.

Inviting

People read to escape, and magazines offer an easily accessible and visually stimulating way to leave your surroundings behind. Use your cover to invite potential readers to join you in a wonderfully curated escape from reality. Combine a whimsical, free-spirited font with a photo that implies mystery, discovery and adventure to draw in your would-be escapists.

Minimalist

The best covers are the ones that stand out. A bold choice for magazines would be to forgo the ubiquitous text on the cover and let the image do the work for you. For this to be successful, you need an image that is not only eye-catching but also clear in its message. If your cover looks interesting enough, the lack of explanatory text can prompt people to pick it up out of curiosity.
